Memorandum of Understanding between Earthlings and Department of Agriculture Sarawak
During the second day of the Borneo Coffee Symposium, we were honoured to have YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Chief Minister & Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Sarawak witness the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Earthlings Coffee Workshop and Department of Agriculture Sarawak. This marks the beginning of our collaboration with the Sarawak government in writing a new chapter for coffee cultivation.
We will work together in two major areas to boost Sarawak coffee cultivation. First to improve local coffee quality by introducing advance coffee cultivation models and systems; farmer education framework, bring in various coffee species and varieties, grafting and shade-grown techniques, intercropping plans, advance green coffee processing & maturation methods, and modify them to suit the various geographical and climatic conditions of Sarawak. Identify and source whatever is necessary to help local farmers in producing the best coffee quality and yield.
Secondly, we will strive to generate more demand for both specialty-focused and commercially diverse coffees by tackling the international market with Sarawak-produced coffee products through our global coffee network and specialised coffee marketing tactics.
Ultimately, our mission is to help protect Sarawak’s biodiversity and improve the livelihood local farmer by offering coffee as an alternative crop.
